PSIA pet groomer certificate course

Course Outline

Japan is the birthplace of pet grooming in Asia and a leader in new styling and grooming trends. Japanese-style pet grooming techniques are also in great demand in Hong Kong and the global pet grooming industry. The International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) is the only certification school designated by the Pet Stylist International Association PSIA in Hong Kong. It provides a pet grooming association for professional pet groomers to obtain international qualifications and formulates assessment standards for professional skills. . Every pet groomer holding a PSIA license is certified to have the professional ability of independent work. At present, PSIA also has cooperative schools in the United States, Mainland China, and Taiwan, and the number of cooperation areas is still increasing.

Contents of PSIA Level C (ブロンズ) certificate

​Certificate qualification (need to meet the following two conditions)

  1. Graduate of International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) Level C Pet Grooming Certificate Program

  2. Have 2 years working experience in pet grooming shop

  1. Poodle Professional Pet Dress

  2. Poodle International Standard Sheep Dress
    (Choose one of the two exam styles)

  3. All test dogs only need to keep hair length for at least one month

​ Evaluation Content

  1. Pet grooming is limited to 90 minutes (including shaving the soles of the feet, shaving the bottom of the belly, shaving the anus, and shaving the body. Hands, feet, head and tail must be trimmed with scissors)

  2. The time limit for poodle sheep dress is 90 minutes (including shaving the soles of the feet, shaving the underside of the belly, shaving the anus, shaving the face of the lady, and shaving the root of the tail. The body, hands and feet, head and tail must be trimmed with scissors)

​ Examination fee and examination fee

  • ​Certification fee HKD3,980
    The fee includes the Japanese PSIA examination fee, the Japanese PSIA review fee, the Japanese PSIA certificate fee, and the Japanese test model dog fee
    Does not include any fees for Hong Kong classroom or mock exams
    ​ Does not include air tickets, fares and accommodation

  • Exam make-up fee HKD790 for one class (before the exam, at least one make-up class at the International Professional Pet Grooming Academy is required to learn the basic exam rules)

Contents of PSIA Level B (シルバー) certificate

​Certification qualifications (need to meet two of the following conditions)

  1. Graduate of International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) Level C Pet Grooming Certificate Program

  2. Graduate of International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) Level B Pet Grooming Certificate Program

  3. ​Japanese PSIA Class C certification holder

  4. Have 3 years working experience in pet grooming shop

​ textual research modeling

  1. Poodle Professional Pet Dress

  2. Poodle International Standard Sheep Dress
    (Choose one of the two exam styles)

  3. All test dogs only need at least one and a half months of hair length

​ Evaluation Content

  1. Pet trimming and styling is limited to 70 minutes (including body shaving, hands and feet, head and tail trimming)

  2. 70 minutes for poodle in sheep costume (including trimming of body, hands and feet, head and tail)

​ Examination fee and examination fee

  • ​Certification fee HKD3,980
    The fee includes the Japanese PSIA examination fee, the Japanese PSIA review fee, the Japanese PSIA certificate fee, and the Japanese test model dog fee
    Does not include any fees for Hong Kong classes
    ​ Does not include air tickets, fares and accommodation

  • Exam make-up fee HKD790 per class
    (If you are not a holder of PSIA C level certification, you need to take at least one make-up class at the International Professional Pet Grooming Academy before the exam to learn the basic exam rules)

PSIA Level A (ゴールド) research content

​Certification qualifications (need to meet two of the following conditions)

  1. Graduate of International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) Level C Pet Grooming Certificate Program

  2. Graduate of International Professional Pet Grooming Academy (IPGA) Level B Pet Grooming Certificate Program

  3. ​Japanese PSIA Class B certification holder

  4. Have 5 years of full-time working experience in pet grooming shop

​ textual research modeling

  1. Poodle Professional Pet Dress

  2. Poodle International Standard Sheep Dress

  3. Poodle International Standard Continental Europe
    (Choose one of three exam styles)

  4. All test dogs only need at least two months of hair length

​ Evaluation Content

  1. Pet grooming and styling is limited to 60 minutes (including body shaving, hands and feet, head and tail trimming)

  2. The time limit for the poodle sheep dress is 60 minutes (including trimming the body, hands and feet, head and tail)

  3. 60 minutes for poodle in Continental dress (including trimming of body, hands and feet, head and tail)

​ Examination fee and examination fee

  • ​Certification fee HKD4,500
    The fee includes the Japanese PSIA examination fee, the Japanese PSIA review fee, and the Japanese PSIA certificate fee
    Includes Japanese Exam Poodle pet sculpt
    ​ Does not include Poodle Sheep Model Model Dog Fee or Poodle    Continental Europemodeling model dog fee
    Does not include any fees for Hong Kong classes
    ​ Does not include air tickets, fares and accommodation

  • Supplementary fee for pet modeling exam is HKD790 per class
    (If you are not a PSIA C or B certification holder, you need to take at least one make-up class at the International Professional Pet Grooming Academy before the exam to learn the basic exam rules)
